In early 2021, just before the COVID vaccine (injection) rollout and mandates began, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) published a document titled the ‘COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring plan’.

It reads:
“The rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines due to the urgent global need to effectively combat this pandemic has meant that the typical regulatory approval and production processes are being expedited.
…
Information from ongoing clinical trials and safety studies will continue to be collected and analysed after provisional approval. The TGA, other international regulators, and vaccine sponsors will also continuously review safety and effectiveness information collected from use in mass vaccination programs worldwide.”
In other words, these injections were quickly developed and the TGA was to monitor the safety data as Australians were injected.
Once these products were made available, they were promoted to the community and mandated to people as a condition of employment.
One would think that it would be reasonable to ask to see documents relating to the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring plan by our publicly funded regulator!
During a recent sitting week in Parliament, I introduced an Order for the Production of Documents (OPD) in the Senate for all documentation relating to the implementation of this plan so that Australians could know if and how the TGA adhered to its plan to monitor the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The Labor Government objected to this request and voted against the motion!
One would think that increasing transparency may help restore confidence in the regulatory process, particularly regarding pharmacovigilance procedures. Apparently, the Labor Government does not feel the same way.
The ills of the pandemic period have been swept under the rug, but they left a profound impression on many Australians.
Unless Australians are told the truth about what has happened in this country over the past five years, I worry that trust will never be restored.
We need a proper robust Royal Commission into the COVID period, and I will continue fighting for the truth to be revealed.
