The state of Minnesota is reeling. Melissa Hortman, former Speaker of the House, was gunned down in her own home, alongside her husband, in what officials are calling a politically motivated assassination. The suspect? Vance Luther Boelter, a man appointed by Governor Tim Walz in 2019 to the state’s Workforce Development Board.

BREAKING: Some names on the hit list of the assassin include Progressive Democrat Ilhan Omar, Tim Walz, and AG Keith Ellison.
This is what happens when radicalization permeates through political discourse.
I wonder if Tim Walz is proud of hiring a guy like this. pic.twitter.com/3tEah6tBTY

This was not random. Authorities say Boelter posed as a police officer, complete with badge, vest, and a vehicle outfitted to mimic law enforcement. He first opened fire on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, leaving both in critical condition. Then he moved on to Hortman’s home in Brooklyn Park. Both she and her husband were executed.
The details are chilling. Flyers reading “No Kings” were found in Boelter’s vehicle, a reference to the anti-establishment protests planned across the country. Police also recovered a manifesto and a list of political targets, including Governor Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, and Attorney General Keith Ellison.
Boelter’s background raises questions. He was not just a random extremist. He had deep ties to the state’s political machinery, having served on workforce councils under both Walz and former Governor Mark Dayton. His security background included international operations in Africa and the Middle East, and he ran a private firm with military-grade training.
The motive appears to be ideological. Hortman had recently opposed legislation that would have extended taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegals. She was the only Democrat in the Minnesota House to vote against it. That vote may have sealed her fate.
The suspect Vance Luther Boelter is still at large. Authorities have confirmed that he fled on foot after exchanging gunfire with police outside Rep. Melissa Hortman’s home. Despite a statewide manhunt involving hundreds of officers, Boelter has not yet been captured.
