Pardon Campaign New Photos of Julian Back Home – www.cairnsnews.org

Update about Julian Assange and our campaign for his pardon, along with new photos of his life back home, was published in the Australian media.

Julian and his father, John Shipton in Melbourne

The article highlights the need for a pardon to unwind the dangerous precedent set by Julian’s conviction and enable him to move forward with his life.

“To gain his freedom back, he had to agree to become a convicted criminal. That has all types of restrictions on how he can make a living and support his family,” Gabriel Shipton, Julian’s brother said.

Thanks to your efforts signing and sharing our open letter seeking a presidential pardon for Julian, more than 15,000 people have now added their names.

To further build momentum for a pardon before President Biden leaves the White House, Gabriel will travel to Washington DC later this month to meet with US lawmakers and activists. His visit will also coincide with Prime Minister Albanese’s trip to the US.

“The prime minister has a great relationship with President Biden, and he’ll have the opportunity to raise this issue in a farewell call with him when it will be sitting on Biden’s desk,” Gabriel said.

This is a critical moment for people in Australia, the US, and the world to push for a pardon to ensure justice for Julian and press freedom.
